Department of Applied Chemistry was established around 59 years ago along with the establishment of CME department in the Institute. In the early years after establishment, department was involved in teaching engineering chemistry to B.E. students, but later on transformed into a department of P.G. teaching and Research in 1971. Department has well qualified faculty and one of the best equipped laboratory. The outgoing P.G. students are readily absorbed by various industries. Current activities of department include conduction of U. G. and P.G. courses, research, consultancy and testing.
Applied Mathematics and Computational Science
The department of Applied Mathematics was established in 1956 to teach Engineering Mathematics to all undergraduate courses of engineering. M.Sc course was started in 1969. The department has been continuing with quality teaching in both UG and PG courses. Shortly after M.Sc course, PhD and research activities were developed with an accelerated speed. A large number of research scholars are working for their PhD degrees. During these years, the department has produced more than 40 PhDs and more than 500 research papers in national international journals
Applied Physics and Optoelectronics
The department has been offering M. Sc. (Applied Physics) since 1969 and M. Tech. (Optoelectronics) with specialization in Optical Communication since 1995. The laboratories in area of lasers, fiber optics, non linear optics, optical communication and nanotechnology are among the best in the country offering M.Tech programs. Research and Development labs have been developed for PhD programs.
Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the year 2001 with an aim to develop manpower in the upcoming field of modern health care industry. It evolved from Electronics and Instrumentation as a specialized degree course in the field of Biomedical engineering for providing specially trained graduates for providing better services in health care instruments as well as to promote research and development of low cost indigenous products. The department offer an undergraduate course in Biomedical Engg. with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per year.
Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics
UG in Civil Engineering Started with 30 seats in 1956, Intake increased to 120 in 2012, Accredited in 2003. PG in Structural Engineering Started with 10 seats in 1965, Intake increased to 25 in 2002, Accredited in 2003 and 2013 (for 5 years) PG in Transportation Engineering Started with 10 seats in 1969, Intake increased to 25 in 2002 PG in Water Resource Engineering Started with 10 seats in 1993, Intake increased to 25 in 2002 PG in Environment Engineering Started with 10 seats in 1994, Intake increased to 25 in 2002 *MISSION* To generate experts in Civil Engineering field relevant to society for its accelerated socio-economic growth in professional and challenging environment, imparting human values.
The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 1983, the first one in the state of Madhya Pradesh and Central India. Initially the department offered an undergraduate program with an intake of 12 students, which has how been increased to 90. It was the first one to introduce the post graduate program in Computer Engineering in the state. ii) Vision : The Department of Computer Engineering envisions itself as a centre of education, research and development for advancement of knowledge in the field of computer science and engineering to best serve the needs of students, industry and society.
Computer Technology and Application
Department of Computer Technology Applications was established in the year 2001, keeping in mind the increasing demand of computer professionals in the computing world. The department offers one PG programme (M.C.A.) with an annual intake of 60 students. For admission students have to appear in state level MCA entrance examination which is held by VYAPAM in months of April – May each year. ii) Vision : The department of CTA fulfills the need of ever growing I.T. Industry by producing competitive, enthusiastic well groomed computer professionals.
To develop leading expertise in Electrical Engineering field making significant contribution to human resource development envisaging dynamic needs of the society and industries Vision: To produce higher levels of human resources in the field of Electrical Engineering for its accelerated socio-economical and technological growth in emerging areas of human endeavour. PEOs: PEO_1: To impart core knowledge of Electrical Engineering for technical careers. PEO_2: To teach the advanced aspects of Electrical systems along with its design, simulation and fabrication together with good communication skills.
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering
The department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was established in 1984.This department came out as a an offspring of Electronics Engineering due to enormous development in the field of electronics and demand of Instrumentation Engineers in the city and its vicinity. Equipped with modern sophisticated instruments, it offers Under Graduate course (B.E. Programme). An M. Tech. course in Microelectronics VLSI Design was started by this department in 2002. The faculty is well qualified to accept the new Challenges in the Electronics and Instrumentation field.
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering was established in 1972 and has been offering Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) course since then. The department started M. E. (Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering) course in 2003 with emphasis on Telecommunication Technology in view of increased national teledensity, advances in the field of mobile communications and expansion of communication and computer networks in the country. The M.E. course of the department has been NBA accredited since January 2013 for 3 years. The department is a QIP Ph. D. center of MHRD, Govt.
The department of Information Technology was established in the year 2000 with the introduction of B.E.(I.T.) programme. This programme aims to prepare students to either pursue a professional carrier immediately after graduation or to continue with post graduate studies. The curriculum of the course is reviewed and revised regularly, keeping in view the needs of industry. Many student projects at final year are carried out in association with the industries. The department has got well equipped laboratories for teaching, learning and research.
Management Studies (MBA)
About the department : Department of Management Studies was established in the year 2012, keeping in mind the increasing demand of Professional Managers in the every nook and corner of the world. The department offers PG programme with an annual intake of 60 students. For admission students have to appear in National level CMAT entrance examination which is held by AICTE twice in a year.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the major and oldest departments of the institute which started functioning with undergraduate programme in 1956. Since then the department has registered continuous growth in all directions. Advanced subject such as Mechatronics, vibration and noise control, computational mechanics and computer aided design have been introduced as compulsory subjects in the undergraduate studies.
The Department of Pharmacy (Formerly State College of Pharmacy) of the institute is considered to be one of the best Pharmacy schools of central India imparting need based undergraduate and postgraduate pharmaceutical education. Equipped with sophisticated research instruments and lab equipments, well qualified and experienced faculty and with a good library, computing and lab facilities it offers four years Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) degree, two years Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm.) degree in the disciplines of Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry (started in 1989) and Industrial Pharmacy (started in 1999) and a full time PhD Degree programme.
Industrial and Production Engineering
IPE department was founded in 1973, with specialized faculty in the area of Industrial and Production Engineering to run the M.E. Program (Industrial and Production Engineering) for sponsored engineers from Industry. The department of Industrial and Production Engineering, is today one of largest department of the institute. The department is equipped with learned faculty and modern facilities. The department has a well-equipped central workshop that imparts basic training in various manufacturing processes. The department is also equipped with modern laboratories of CADCAE, FMS, Industrial Inspection, Industrial Engineering, Quantitative Techniques and Metal Cutting and Machine Tools. Faculty members have published more than 50 papers in the last three years, and have authored number of books, which are popular in many engineering curriculum across the country.
Department of Humanities
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, established in July 2016, is the youngest of all departments in the institute. At present, the department provides services to various departments by teaching a wide spectrum of subjects at the B.E, M.C.A., B.Pharm and M.B.A. levels. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences plays a unique and distinctive role in an institute where the ethos of science and technology prevails.
