The State Government of M.P. has introduced Pre-Engineering Test (PET) since 1981 for candidates desirous to seek admission to State Engg. Colleges of M.P. State. The date of availability and cost of application form, last date of submission of form, examination fee, date of examination and other  details are announced by the Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (VYAPAM), Bhopal in leading Newspapers of the State. Those candidates who qualify and come in merit in the PET examination are offered admission through On-Line Counseling conducted by Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishvavidyalaya, Bhopal.

Shri GSITS offers four year (8 semesters) Bachelor of Engineering programme in the following Branches

Civil and Applied Mechanics	Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering	Computer Engineering
Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering	Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
Information Technology	Industrial and Production Engineering
Biomedical Engineering	Applied Physics
Applied Chemistry	Applied Mathematics & Computational Science
Computer Technology and Applications (MCA)	Pharmacy

Branch wise 5% seats are reserved for NRI candidates. 10% seats of the total intake are available for diploma holders for direct admission to II year B.E. in different branches.

Similarly (i) foreign students (ii) students from Indian states, Union Territories lacking facilities for Degree Courses in Engineering and Technology (iii) sons and wards of India based staff posted abroad, are admitted to branches for which they are originally nominated by their respective agencies.
