Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in 2002 with the aim of developing manpower in the upcoming field of the modern Health care industry. It evolved from Electronics and Instrumentation as a specialized degree course in the field of Biomedical Engineering to provide specially trained graduates with better services in Healthcare instruments as well as to promote Research and Development of low-cost indigenous products. The Department offers an undergraduate course in Biomedical Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60 students per year and a Postgraduate course in Biomedical Instrumentation and Signal Processing.
  • The syllabus is carefully designed to meet the requirements of the Health care industry.
  • This course covers both the Engineering and Biological aspects, with a special attention to the design, development, and implementation of electronic instrumentation for health care.
  • Being interdisciplinary the course provides students with a unique opportunity to explore connections between diverse fields of Engineering, encouraging a holisticunderstanding of real-world issues.
  • The department has faculty members with diverse expertise in areas such as signal and image processing, Medical imaging, biomechanics, Medical instrumentation, AIand ML, Data mining.
  • The department collaborates with industry and alumni to provide students with practical exposure through internships and workshop.
